GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN

John McCain's choice of Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, as his vice presidential running mate, contrary to many of his actions and statements, indicates that he may not be trying to throw the election after all. Unlike the other half of the ticket, Governor Palin strongly favors the development of energy resources, our God-given rights which are guaranteed by the Second Amendment, smaller government, lower taxes, opposition to police state measures such as Real ID and is an uncompromising supporter of the right to life who refused to abort her own fifth child, a victim of Down's Syndrome, who was born earlier in the year. As mayor of Wasilla, she also reduced property taxes by 60% as well as her own salary. When she became governor, she ended the infamous Bridge to Nowhere.

Except for  her support of McCain, which apparently compromised all of her principles, and a possible neocon attitude to the war on Iraq and Afghanistan, there is very is very little to criticize in her record. Several months ago she was mentioned as a possible running mate for Ron Paul. She is the sort of person who should be a prime candidate for recruitment to the Libertarian Party rather than to be the vice presidential candidate of a Republican statist, warmonger ticket.

However, except in very rare instances, where the president is a mentally retarded puppet of a maniacal vice president, such as the current administration, vice presidents have very little if any influence on policy. It is far wiser to support Bob Barr for president than to concern yourself morbidly with actuarial studies of a man who celebrated his 72nd birthday today and an apparently quite healthy 44 year old woman. A vote for Bob Barr and Wayne Root is a 100% vote for liberty. The other alternative is 9/42nds (21.43%) at best  even assuming that she would not be corrupted by the corrosive moral environment of the District of Columbia between now and then, which could be over three years anyway.

Also quite interestingly, the governor's husband works on the North Slope. She is not the governor of Alaska to whom Chaplain Lindsey Williams refers in his celebrated speech, since she took office in 2006. Yet, it would be quite fascinating if some reporter somehow were able to ask her, "Governor Palin, do you know Lindsey Williams? What can you tell us about the 200 year oil supply on Gull Island?" http://video.google.co...ideoplay...1147

Then we would certainly know on whose side she is.
